I Bet $5 You'll Vote For Me
If you can pass a short quiz
on my positions,
and still
say you won't vote for me, then
I will
send you $5
You're a civic-minded voter, and your
time is valuable. If you spend a few minutes reading my site and decide
to vote for me, then I hope you'll think it was worth your time. If
instead you decide you would not vote for me, then I'll send you $5 in
appreciation for your time. Either way, you win. (See
here
for more on why I'm doing this.)
The Rules
Print this quiz and fill it in completely. Mail it along with a stamped
self-addressed envelope to Voter Quiz, 12800 La Cresta Dr, Los Altos
HIlls CA 94022. If the name and address match a registered voter
in
California's 14th congressional district, then I'll return $5 in the
envelope the
first time that addressee correctly completes the quiz and
yet still
makes a signed statement that he or she probably will not vote for me.
Offer valid for postmarks before Nov 7
2006 until the payouts would total $5000 or I find out this offer is
illegal,
whichever
comes first. Rules subject to change without notice if I detect abuse
of this offer.
Bonus: I'll match the $5
I pay to a qualifying voter with another $5 to the person who first
referred that voter to me. Just send email to brian@holtz.org with the
subject "Voter Challenge Referral", and on
each line give the full name and email address of a registered voter
whom you're referring. If you're the first to refer a voter with the
same name as one who later qualifies for the $5 payment, then I'll mail
$5 for each such voter to the address you give me in your email. I may
send you and your referrees one or two emails preceding any given
election, but will not use or share these email addresses for any other
purpose. Referral payments count toward my $5000 payout cap. Referral
payment is void if the email address is for someone who is unable to
identify herself using information (e.g. address, birth date) I already
have from the county database of registered voters.

The Letter
Dear Brian,
I am a registered voter in California's 14th
congressional district, and I answered the above quiz myself by
reading http://marketliberal.org.
I
have read enough there to decide
that I
probably will not vote for you on Nov. 7, 2006. Enclosed is a
stamped
envelope addressed to me. If I passed your quiz and my name and address
match that of a registered voter in CA-14, please send me $5. You may
call my phone number to verify my identity,
but not for any other purpose. You may send me email once or twice each
election, but may not use or share my email address for any other
purpose. You may list me on
your website as a respondent using just my first name, last initial,
and
city. Below I've circled my reason(s) why I probably will not
vote for you.
