Do I Want Your Vote?

Don't vote for me if you think

your one vote is for tipping the election outcome instead of expressing your principles;
only a career politician can do the job of applying clearly-stated principles to the votes that come before Congress;
a candidate can't hold sincere principles if she's a career politician;
politics is about honesty or fixing what's broken instead of making hard choices about competing principles;
voters cannot be trusted to vote out politicians who have been in office too long;
voters are unwitting thralls to whichever candidate advertises most;
human freedom isn't worth fighting for if the humans aren't Americans;

Vote for the Democrat if you think

American workers aren't productive enough to compete in the global economy;
changing the minimum wage to $0.01/hour would make anyone poor;
changing the minimum wage to $100/hour would make anyone rich;
Social Security and Medicare only give back to seniors what they paid in;
a regulatory bureaucracy works better than a fixed pool of emissions licenses that polluters must buy and that emissions-reducers can sell;
21st century employers can afford to systematically discriminate against qualified workers;
a criminal's acts should be punished more severely if his thoughts are officially classified as "hateful";
abortion is about maternal privacy instead of fetal nonpersonhood;

Vote for the Republican if you think

government should decide what sensations and substances adults may voluntarily consume;
embryos, zygotes or stem cells have a soul;
having a clone threatens human dignity any more than having a twin;
American corporations and farmers need subsidies to compete in the global economy;

Vote for some other Libertarian if you think

the most important issues are lowering your tax bill and smoking your pot;
starving citizens have no moral claim on aid from the state;
the $10 trillion American economy can function without the common currency that the Constitution authorized;
resources like the ozone layer could be protected merely by individuals filing lawsuits;
private markets could completely manage natural monopolies like roads and water/sewer/power lines;
